About Mason Grimmett

Mason is a resident of Wichita, Kansas, where he lives with his mom and step-dad, Kristin and Jeremy Kienzle.

Born in 2001, Mason was diagnosed at birth with cystic fibrosis. Later, he was also diagnosed with CF related liver disease. The doctors at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha have closely monitored his condition, knowing that a life-saving liver transplant due to the effects of cystic fibrosis on his liver would be necessary at some point in his adolescence.

He was placed on the transplant list in April of 2016, and on October 22 Mason received a cadaver donor's liver that saved his life, after his first transplant on October 19 (from a living donor) failed. An estimated $75,000 is being raised by Wichita and KC friends and family to support the long-term costs associated with post-transplant care. You can donate to his cause by clicking the 'Donate Online' button on the left side of this page.

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure.  The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses.
